About Sexpunk Chronicles

Sexpunk Chronicles is a fun solarpunk, adult-romance, adventure book series filled with high tech, magic, and comedy. The two people responsible for this mischief are writers, game designers, musicians, and actors. They share a love of world building, killing harmful traditions, and inspiring conversation that leads to useful changes. Why did they call it "Sexpunk"? Because it's fun, stands out, and challenges them to represent and include a variety of interests and lifeforms found on planet Earth.  Sexual and asexual folks in this series get to express themselves, as do folks of different genders or lack their of. In the tradition of "punk" genres such as steampunk, cyberpunk, and solarpunk, they aim to shake up societal norms to explore potential. In Sexpunk Chronicles, the writers explore scientific possibilities, fantasies, ethics, and beliefs using twists and tropes to entertain.

About Solarpunk & The World of Ceyroa

Solarpunk, cyberpunk, steampunk... What are you?:

Ceyroa is a world beyond Earth, set in the solarpunk and sci-fi/fantasy genres.

The solarpunk genre focuses on a world or society with better technology, healthier and more progressive environments, and better governments than what we find in the past or present day. Earth-cautious and ethical existences thrive, utilizing green energy, smarter architecture and transportation. Hope and realized dreams of what we can accomplish together are included.

In many solarpunk stories you'll also find the following: Body modifications such as biotech and "plastic" surgery are normal and usually respected. There is bodily autonomy - all medical procedures are granted and the requested 'right to die' is usually assisted. There is a high level of preservation of nature and history. Healthcare and education are consistently available, accessible, and often improving. Racism, sexism, and classism are harder to find in the majority of societies and solarpunk tends to seek it out and offer solutions. Solarpunk does not present a perfect world. It’s not a utopia. Some places are not as good to live in and some people get away with murder and corruption. Not everything is free, but many things are achievable.

Solarpunk, in our world of Ceyroa, features magic in addition to high technology and green energy. The primary creatures we feature, “atyuins”, are human-like in form. Familiar creatures exist in Ceyroa, such as dragons and elves, though may appear or behave differently from what is found in popular media.  We also offer a sex-positive environment that is diverse in its appearance and behavior.  Our goal is to present problems with solutions and kinks with recognition and respect.

Who let all these punks in?:

While steampunk focuses on historical fantasy, solarpunk and cyberpunk focus on modern and futuristic fantasy. You can have elements of each in all three as well, but each genre has its own unique vibe. All three genres give a nod toward shaking up or improving the societal norm (the punks) and include technological advancements. All three genres include imperfect societies.

Cyberpunk and steampunk generally cap out in visual elements thanks to their problematic societies, but sometimes it's just the preference of the writer. For example, in cyberpunk, you might find many fashion preferences linked to survival or the need to connect with elements of society in cyberpunk. In steampunk, the fashion, tech, and architecture are limited within an era aesthetic. Solarpunk, however, not only incorporates their fashions and architecture but keeps going - featuring societies that are a mix of what other genres present, usually with diversity and progress in mind. Technically, there is no limit with cyberpunk styling either, because high tech and diversity exist there as well, but most stories tend to contain or restrain their visual style by the limits of their central government.

Cyberpunk presents a society or world that is harder to survive in due to corruption, despite technological advancements. It is often considered dystopian fiction. Cyberpunk focuses on the struggles of an individual or group within a greater corrupted living environment. Steampunk is similar though is not always dystopian. Cyberpunk tends to focus on one's ability to survive in a world they might not be able to change for the better. Though they may improve their own situation amidst the chaos. There are very few examples of optimistic, healthy societies in cyberpunk, but you will find more in steampunk as there tends to be more societal unification for growth.

Solarpunk focuses on the struggles of an individual or group within a fairly healthy and progressive living environment. The hope is for one to survive a set of challenges in a world they have a chance to change for the better.

While there aren't as many popular examples of solarpunk in literature or film yet, gamers may find some of the concepts familiar from media such as Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy. And the film (not the animated version), Aeon Flux, also presents many of these elements. We will include more examples as we can. Meanwhile, we hope you enjoy our world and if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out. Thank you.
